ULTRA™ PC Amino Alcohols From ANGUS Comply With Global Cosmetics Directives

Efficient neutralizers meet the most stringent restrictions on purity, secondary amine and nitrosamine content for personal care

Paris, France - April 17, 2007

The ULTRA™ PC portfolio of globally-compliant amino alcohols from ANGUS Chemical Company (“ANGUS”) meets product safety requirements of both the European Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC and the upcoming ASEAN Cosmetics Directive (effective January 2008), without requiring costly formulation changes for customers.  Introduced in 2004 to comply with the standards of the European directive, the ULTRA PC products are readily available so customers in all regions of the world can be compliant when new directives are implemented.

The ULTRA™ PC portfolio includes buffers and neutralizing amines for a wide range of personal care and cosmetics products.  AMP-ULTRA™ PC neutralizing amine and TRIS AMINO™ ULTRA™ PC buffer provide performance advantages and benefits as neutralizing agents, offering excellent color stability and primary amine functionality.  AMPD ULTRA™ PC neutralizing amine offers effective buffering and excellent color stability, making it the optimal neutralizer for eye care products.  In addition, both AMP-ULTRA PC amine and TRIS AMINO ULTRA PC buffer are virtual drop-in replacements for tertiary amines like Triethanolamine (TEA), which have usage level restrictions under both the European and upcoming ASEAN directives.

“As regulatory requirements become increasingly strict and widespread, ANGUS is pleased to be able to continue to service its customers with highly efficient neutralizing amines that have the added benefit of compliance with all current personal care and cosmetics directives and are readily available around the globe,” said Liam Doherty, global marketing manager, ANGUS.  “The ULTRA™ PC portfolio is the result of capital investments in a manufacturing process that helps us solve the challenges presented by our customers by providing quality chemicals that meet industry standards and are easy to incorporate into existing formulations.”

ANGUS complies with the European and upcoming ASEAN directives through its sales specification and certificate of analysis, which indicates that products have been tested for purity, secondary amine and nitrosamine content.  In addition, the business offers local implementation and one-on-one support for customers at its customer application centers in Horgen, Switzerland; Buffalo Grove, Illinois, USA; Singapore; and Shanghai, China.  To better service its global customer base, ANGUS will also be opening regional centers in Tokyo, Japan; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Mumbai, India; and Sao Paulo, Brazil later this year, as well as a second center in China in Guangzhou in 2008.
