ANGUS Chemical Company Increases AMP-95 Capacity, Meets Demand for Multi-Functional Paint and Coatings Additive
Shanghai, China - November 16, 2005 Following a multi-million dollar capacity expansion project, ANGUS Chemical Company ("ANGUS") is positioned to fully satisfy growing market demand for AMP-95™ dispersant (2-Amino-2-Methyl-1-Propanol), a multi-purpose additive used in a variety of paint and coatings formulations. "The capacity expansion was a direct result of growing high demand for AMP-95, a proven and reliable specialty additive that customers can only get from ANGUS," said Mark Saurin, global marketing manager for paints and coatings, ANGUS. "Use of AMP-95 has become increasingly widespread as it not only enhances the quality and performance of a formulation, it also provides customers with the opportunity to reduce the overall cost and comply with stricter VOC requirements on a global basis." The increased volume will allow customers to better take advantage of the multi-functionality of AMP-95 for waterborne decorative paints, water-based industrial coatings, and traditional solvent-based paints. In these applications, AMP-95 can serve as an effective co-dispersant, emulsifier and neutralizing amine. Additionally, it contributes to pH stability, low odor, and in-can corrosion resistance. "With AMP-95, ANGUS demonstrates its commitment to providing customers with best-in-class solutions that address multiple formulation goals and minimize day-to-day challenges," Saurin said. "A strong heritage in the paint and coatings market - coupled with unique experience with nitroparaffin-based chemistry - has allowed us to tailor our product to meet the variety of needs that formulators face when trying to generate the highest quality end products. " Aligned as a market-focused, solutions-driven specialty chemicals business, ANGUS is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. ANGUS develops and delivers nitroalkane-based solutions to our customers for applications in latex paints, mineral slurries, metalworking fluids, water treatment, biological buffers, solvents and thinners, wood adhesives, pharmaceutical & agricultural intermediates, SBR latex shortstops, fuel additives and personal care and household products.
