ANGUS Introduces Globally Compliant Additive for the Personal Care and Cosmetics Market

Buffalo Grove, IL - April 12, 2005

ANGUS Chemical Company, the leading manufacturer of nitroalkane-based chemicals, is introducing AMPD ULTRA™ PC buffer, a new globally compliant buffer for eye care products in the personal care and cosmetics market. AMPD ULTRA PC buffer was developed specifically to meet the product safety requirements of the European Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC without requiring costly formulation changes for customers.

A drop-in equivalent to AMPD™ neutralizing amine, AMPD ULTRA PC buffer (2-Amino-2-Methyl-1,3-Propanediol) offers the same functional performance, including effective buffering and excellent color stability. The PH and buffering capability of AMPD ULTRA PC buffer make it the optimal neutralizer for eye care products. AMPD ULTRA PC buffer completes ANGUS' portfolio of amino alcohol products designed to meet the new industry requirements. Companion products, previously launched in 2004, include AMP-ULTRATM PC neutralizing amine (2-Amino-2-Methyl-1-Propanol) for hair and personal care and TRIS AMINOTM Ultra PC buffer (Tromethamine) for skin care.

"With the addition of AMPD ULTRA PC buffer to our portfolio, ANGUS can service personal care companies with globally compliant amino alcohols for a wide range of personal care and cosmetics products," said Liam Doherty, global marketing manager for ANGUS. "In creating product equivalents that assure global compliance, we're solving the challenges presented to our customers by providing quality chemicals that meet industry standards and are easy to incorporate into existing formulations."
