ANGUS Chemical Company provides customers in the metalworking fluid industry with innovative specialty additives based on nitroalkane chemistry and its derivatives.

 

Marketed under the CORRGUARD™ brand name, ANGUS specialty additives provide multifunctional benefits for water-miscible metalworking fluids. The CORRGUARD portfolio includes CORRGUARD-75, CORRGUARD-90 and CORRGUARD-95 Amino Alcohols, CORRGUARD SI Corrosion Inhibitor, CORRGUARD LSA Amino Alcohol and CORRGUARD RED Amino Alcohol.

 

CORRGUARD-75, CORRGUARD-90 and CORRGUARD-95, primary amino alcohols, are efficient neutralizers of acid-functional ingredients, assist in providing stable emulsions at high pH and help minimize cobalt leaching.

 

An innovative staining inhibitor, CORRGUARD SI is intended for use with aluminum alloys (including AI380), galvanized steel and Galvaneal. A distinct, multifunctional stain inhibitor, CORRGUARD SI is both phosphorous and silicate free. CORRGUARD SI works to keep metal parts clean while also providing emulsification and lubricity properties to further enhance the efficacy of metalworking fluids.

Certain geographic regions have special formulating requirements. In Germany, where the TRGS 611 regulation limits the secondary amine content of finished fluids, ANGUS offers customers an alternative with CORRGUARD LSA, a product containing a maximum of 0.75 wt % of secondary amine.

 

For regions such as China, India and Southeast Asia, where component cost is of prime importance, CORRGUARD RED Amino Alcohol was designed as a value-added alternative to monoethanolamine/triethanolamine (MEA/TEA) combinations. CORRGUARD RED provides greater emulsion stability over a wider pH range and is easier to handle than TEA in colder climates.

 

Additional products for metalworking fluid applications from ANGUS include: ALKATERGE™ Surface Active Agents, oxazoline-based chemistries that work as emulsion stabilizers and corrosion inhibitors; CORRGUARD-M Amino Alcohol, a primary amino alcohol that serves as a neutralizing amine; AEPD™ 85, a low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) corrosion inhibitor; and DMAMP-80™, a vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor.
