Metalworking Fluids Solutions from ANGUS Chemical Company
Buffalo Grove, IL - May 07, 2006 ANGUS offers a line of specialty additives that enhance metalworking fluid performance and serve as building blocks for long-life fluids. The following products provide a cost-effective way to formulate fluids meeting increasingly stringent performance requirements. NEW – CORRGUARD™ SI corrosion inhibitor is a unique, patent-pending multifunctional stain inhibitor which protects aluminum alloys and galvanized steel in contact with water-based metalworking fluids. Effective at concentrations as low as 0.1% (working dilution), CORRGUARD SI is free of silicates and phosphorus, and is suitable for long-life bioresistant formulations. It also has a favorable safety/environmental profile and is easily waste treated. AEPD-85™ is an excellent primary amino alcohol, designed for use in all water-dilutable fluids. AEPD-85 exhibits intermediate base strength, has low volatility, and is an excellent choice for directly replacing diethanolamine (DEA). AEPD-85 offers the metalworking fluid formulator and end-user the following key benefits: efficient pH development, enhanced reserve alkalinity, improved ferrous corrosion protection, efficient neutralization of acidic components, enhanced performance of triazine biocides, effective formaldehyde control, and low foaming. CORRGUARD™-95 corrosion inhibitor is based on AMP™ (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol), a multifunctional additive designed exclusively for use in all water-dilutable metalworking fluids. CORRGUARD-95, a high performance alkanolamine, is a highly efficient neutralizer and alkalinity enhancer which also provides corrosion inhibition properties. CORRGUARD-95 resists microbial degradation, and leaches minimal cobalt during manufacturing of carbide tools. CORRGUARD-95 enhances the performance of triazine biocides, while reducing levels of airborne formaldehyde. CORRGUARD-95 does not contribute to ammonia release, as do other amines. Aligned as a market-focused, solutions-driven specialty chemicals business, ANGUS is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company.
