Aircraft Deicing Fluids

UCAR Aircraft Deicing/Anti-Icing Fluid ULTRA+

UCAR™ Aircraft Deicing/Anti-icing Fluid (ADF/AAF) ULTRA+ is an ethylene glycol-based Type IV fluid containing water, corrosion inhibitors, wetting agents, thickeners and green dye. UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+ is formulated to be used neat (undiluted) as an anti-icing fluid for extended protection time against precipitation. UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+ nominally contains 64% ethylene glycol, 35% water, and less than 1% of the other ingredients.

UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+ is formulated to provide rapid and uniform wetting and spreading on the surface of an aircraft, maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of its application. It also sets the industry standard for its resistance to mechanical degradation from the shear associated with the pumping and application of aircraft anti-icing fluids.

Conformance to Industry Standards

SAE AMS 1428D. UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+ conforms to the technical requirements of the Society Automotive Engineers Aerospace Material Specification1 (SAE AMS) 1428D in the neat (100/0) form. It does not meet the Water Spray Endurance Test (WSET) time requirement in the 75/25 dilution (see the Water Spray Endurance Test section of the product information bulletin). It does meet the technical requirements in the 50/50 dilution but is most effective when used neat. Do not dilute UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+.

Boeing and Douglas Specifications. UCAR ADF/AAF ULTRA+ conforms to all technical requirements of the Douglas CDS#1 Type VI specification (revised May 1988) and the Boeing D6-17487 (revision L).
