Dow Plastics Additives to Re-Brand PARALOID™ SURECEL™ Foam Cell Stabilizer as SURECEL™ T-50
Philadelphia, PA - August 10, 2010
Dow Plastics Additives, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), announces its plan to re-brand the company’s revolutionary PARALOID™ SURECEL™ foam cell stabilizer technology for cellular PVC to SURECEL™ T-50.
“The SURECEL polymers were specifically developed for the free foam cellular PVC market and enable the development of innovative trim board applications,” said Rob Martin, Dow Plastics Additives marketing manager. “When customers see the SURECEL brand name, they can have a high level of confidence in the performance of our products in these targeted applications.”
Manufacturers are able to capitalize on the growing demand for cellular PVC trim board products with SURECEL™ T-50 foam cell stabilizer. In addition to enabling thicker gauge sheets up to 1.5 inches, trim board with SURECEL™ T-50 has excellent paint adhesion, processes at a lower temperature and can help manufacturers cut raw material use up to 10 to 15 percent while producing the same amount of board feet.
Cellular PVC is an extremely durable, attractive option for exterior trim. It provides an ideal combination of wood-like aesthetics, durability and low-maintenance that homeowners want. Scraping and washing become obsolete since the trim resists damage from the elements, insects, and mold. Staining, splitting and scratching are also less likely.
Dow Plastics Additives will use the SURECEL™ brand as a platform to launch other products in the building and construction market. An innovative new product developed specifically for the celuka process for window and trim profile systems is in the final stages of testing and will launch in the marketplace in the fourth quarter of 2010.
