Expanding Possibilities Without Compromise: Introducing ACCELACURE Fast Cure Novolac Systems for Pultrusion
Slow pull speeds, poor mechanical properties, strong formaldehyde odors and high corrosivity to expensive tooling; phenolic pultrusion resins are notorious for their difficulty of use. But as fire resistant composites remain an important factor in building infrastructure, mass transit and marine applications, there have been no alternatives … until now.
The ACCELACURE™ Fast Cure Novolac System is a breakthrough technology representing an entirely new class of thermoset. The unique two-part system solution based on Novolac technology combines a resin and a hardener to be used as a formulated product for pultrusion applications. Delivering improved mechanical performance and fast, easy processing rates, the ACCELACURE system also provides unmatched flame, smoke and smoke toxicity (FST) performance.
When properly formulated, the ACCELACURE Fast Cure Novolac System will generate a pultruded profile with enormous benefits to the composite fabricator:
- Fast processing — matching the rate of polyesters and up to twice as fast as phenolic resoles
- Low-odor formaldehyde-free curing technology
- Excellent flame-smoke-toxicity (FST) properties without the use of flame retardants
- Very high solids (85% minimum) in ethanol
- Easy processing — non-corrosive to tooling
- Excellent shelf life without refrigeration
- Significant cost-savings to the pultruder
This cutting edge system replaces existing fire resistant resins such as phenolic resoles, modified acrylic urethanes (MODAR) and fire resistant polyesters.
