1930 Herbert H. Dow awarded the Perkin Medal for Chemical Achievement. He dies on October 15.

Willard H. DowWillard H. Dow succeeds his father as president of Dow.
1931 Dow forms Ethyl-Dow Co. to extract bromine from sea water for use in anti-knock gasoline.
1935 Dow enters the plastics business with the introduction of Ethocel ethylcellulose resins.
1936 Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation formed.

June 1, 1936: Dow begins formal pollution control program.
1937 The Dow Chemical Company stock is listed for the first time on the New York Stock Exchange, June 26. Styron polystyrene resins introduced.
